Groundwater Monitoring Program
The purpose of the District's Aquifer Monitoring Program is to develop and maintain a repository of measurements of the water resources in Jackson County. Generally, the District collects two types of measurements: groundwater level measurements and groundwater quality measurements.
Well owners who are willing to allow the District to collect measurements from their wells are encouraged to contact the district. Well owners may initiate the process for requesting inclusion in the aquifer monitoring program by submitting to the District the following forms:
Well owners that have granted access to the District to enter a property, may revoke the authorization by submitting to the District the following form:

Monitoring Network Assessment and Improvement Project
On September 23, 2021, the board of directors of the district approved a motion to cooperate and share the costs with VCGCD, RGCD, and CCGCD on a project to be completed by Intera Inc. to assist the district in improving and expanding the District's effort to monitor groundwater levels. Intera delivered the final report on the project on November 23, 2022.

The District is seeking assistance from well owner with monitoring groundwater conditions within the county by allowing the Refugio Groundwater Conservation District to collect water level measurements and water quality measurements from water wells with certain areas. The areas were identified by Intera and can be reviewed in Section 6 of the associated report: PDF. The following map identifies the priority areas that the District is attempting to increase aquifer monitoring within: PDF.

The District, in cooperation with Calhoun County GCD, Refugio GCD, and Victoria County GCD, funded a study of water level data using advanced geostatistical methods by Intera Inc. The study resulted in a report titled Application of Geostatistical Techniques to Quantify Changes in Water Levels being produced in May 2021. The report contains an assessment of groundwater level changes within Jackson, Victoria, Calhoun, and Refugio Counties between year 2000 and year 2020.

Water Level Monitoring
The District collects water level measurements from water wells located with Jackson County. As part of its efforts to monitoring aquifer conditions, the District collects synoptic water levels from water wells within Jackson County during February-March and August-September of each year.
Water Quality Monitoring
The District collects water quality measurements from water wells located with Jackson County. The District collects field parameter measurements such as pH, temperature, conductivity, ORP, dissolved oxygen, and total dissolved solids. The District collects water quality information such as ions, metals, nutrient information, and hydrocarbon levels when conditions warrant a greater degree of data collection.
