The purpose of the District’s water well permitting activities is to authorize the development and operation of wells in a sustainable manner that will conserve, preserve, and protect groundwater within Jackson County as well as prevent waste and protect the rights of owners of interests in groundwater.
Well owners, or their legally-authorized agents, may request permits from the District authorizing activities such as production of groundwater from non-exempt use wells, or the transport of groundwater out of the District.

The District requires applicants to provide latitude and longitude coordinates on many of the permitting applications. To assist applicants with determining the latitude and longitude coordinates for applications, the District has developed a web page with an interactive map of Jackson County. Learn more...
Permitting requests associated with non-exempt use wells, well fields, and well systems are considered by the Board of Directors of the District only after the conclusion of a public permit hearing regarding the request.
